Craftsmanship and Materials

Our Materials… An Ode to Origin, Function, and Feeling

We believe that clothing is more than just something you wear. It’s an extension of your inner world, a skin that protects, supports, and reflects you. The fabrics we work with form the basis of everything we make. They carry a story, an energy, an origin.

In our studio, we choose every fiber with care, with an eye for beauty and function, with respect for people and the earth. We don’t make quick choices. We listen. To what a fabric tells us, to what the body needs, and to how a garment comes to life in contact with you. Fit and comfort are also taken into account here.

Cotton: the Soft Load-Bearing Capacity

Cotton is a loyal ally. It feels familiar, breathes with your skin, and adapts to your rhythm. This natural fiber is reminiscent of simplicity but possesses a quiet strength. Cotton is sturdy yet soft, rooted yet light. We like to choose it because it is kind to both body and mind. There is a form of openness in cotton that appeals to us: nothing forced, everything sincere.

Linen: the Voice of the Earth

Linen is pure, raw, and beautiful in its honesty. It is extracted from the flax plant, a crop that requires little, grows on European soil, and has been cultivated for centuries with respect for the cycle of nature. Linen carries a rhythm within it, a natural roughness that softens with time and thus increasingly shows its beauty. It does not move with trends but with the seasons. A fabric for those who appreciate deceleration and beauty in simplicity.

Viscose: the Whisper of Movement

Viscose originates from the wood of trees but feels like silk on the skin. It is a fabric that can be worn fluidly… soft, shiny, and light. We use viscose where softness and elegance are needed, without the heaviness of synthetics or the fragility of silk. There is something of transformation in viscose: rough wood becomes supple thread. That process, natural and human, fits with our vision of clothing as something that moves with growth and change.

Polyester: the Conscious Addition

Although our preference is for natural fibers, we do not exclude polyester. In some cases, it offers exactly what a garment needs: shape retention, sturdiness, and a longer lifespan. We only use polyester in small quantities and only when it benefits functionality and durability. No overconsumption, no abundance, but balance.

We recognize that polyester is synthetic, but in conscious application, a synthetic material can also contribute to sustainability. Because clothing that stays beautiful, doesn’t crease, doesn’t wear out, and lasts for years needs to be replaced less often. This is how we seek the middle ground between the earth and practice, between intention and use.

Wool: the Breath of the Earth

Wool follows the rhythm of the seasons, spun from the warm coat of the animal, in connection with nature.
It is a fiber that retains warmth and breathes at the same time, a rare balance of protection and airiness. Wool envelops without closing off. It feels resilient, strong, and alive… a fabric that moves with the body and always returns to its shape.
There is a primal force in wool: it recalls ancient traditions of weaving and wearing but remains timeless in its simplicity. It is a material that carries both the silence of the mountains and the warmth of the hearth. Wool embodies sustainability and security, a natural source of strength that reminds us of connection with the earth.

Craft as a Compass

All materials come to life in hands. In our studio, we work with craftsmanship, attention, and time.
No haste, no mass. We cut, sew, feel. Every fabric asks for something different, and we listen.

Clothing is not designed with us to comply but to connect. Between skin and fabric, between maker and wearer, between earth and energy.

Choosing with Heart and Head

Our material choices are never black and white. We move with what feels right. Sometimes a design calls for purity, sometimes for sturdiness. Sometimes the body asks for lightness, sometimes for warmth. We do not move along fixed lines but in dedication to our intention.

By being honest about what we use, and why, we also invite you to look with conscious eyes. At what you wear. At what you need. And at what really matters.

Crochet Art

No two scarves are the same. Each scarf is created stitch by stitch, hours and hours of love and attention, until a piece that carries its own soul. The crocheting often happens on the road, during our travels with the camper… a creative studio on wheels. Traveling gives new impressions, colors, and stories, which automatically travel along in the stitches.

Crocheting is not just an activity but a natural flow of creativity, a way of being. This is how each scarf is created as a unique jewel of dedication… a silent companion of softness and beauty, suitable for every season.

Each scarf has its own story, from hands to skin, from on the road to home.

The Natural Dyeing Process

At Tula Moon, clothing gets its color in a way that respects the earth. We dye our linen and cotton fabrics with natural ingredients: walnut, birch leaf, logwood, henna, indigo, madder, and more. Each color has its own character, its own story that gently unfolds in the fibers.

We dye a limited edition of fabrics, making each piece unique and giving it its own nuance. The process is slow, careful, and carried out with attention. The colors develop naturally and subtly differently per piece, so no garment is the same.

Our dyeing technique allows the fabric to breathe and moves with the texture and character of the material. This creates not only color but a small experience of peace and harmony… a silent whisper of nature felt on your skin.

Vintage Decorative Ribbons

At Tula Moon, selected garments are given an inspired touch from the past through carefully chosen vintage decorative ribbons. It is a search that requires time and attention but is always worth the effort. Each ribbon is unique, sometimes rare, sometimes handmade, with its own energy and beauty that speaks from bygone times.

These special ribbons add small, refined details: a touch of color, a playful texture, a subtle print… pieces of craftsmanship that give a garment that little bit extra. They tell a story, connect past and present, and remind us that beauty is timeless.

By carefully integrating the decorative ribbons into our designs, a harmony is created between material, form, and soul. They are small showpieces that let the clothing breathe and move with you, soft and full of character… a silent wink of attention, creativity, and love for the garment.
